A private residence in a city with a large cozy garden. The building is wrapped with the layer of the floating iron. "Alley" and "terrace" are arranged in the gap between the iron layer and the dwelling area, and the inside is gently connected with the outside.
鉄板を、外部スクリーンのような機能と構造材としての機能とを兼ねて周辺から囲うために使い、その内側にもうひとつの囲いをつくり、その中にメインの居住空間を配置。この内外の囲いの隙間には、「路地」「テラス」などの他「部屋どうしをつなぐ道」のような中間領域が存在する。
構造は、外の鉄板と内側の鉄骨フレームとが、互いにレイヤーを変えて補完しながら支えあうという構造形式になっている。これにより鉄板を地面から浮かせることができた。さらに、両端では鉄板から内側の鉄骨フレームを吊ることで、内部と一体化した広いテラスをつくることが可能となった。
また、鉄板は遮熱スクリーンとしても機能している。
The steel sheeting surrounding this house serves both as a structural element and a screen between the interior and the surrounding environment. The main living space is located within a second, inner enclosure. Between these two layers of enclosure, an intermediate zone functions as an alleyway, terrace, and pathway linking various rooms.
Structurally, the house is supported by the exterior steel sheeting and an interior steel frame, which complement one another in alternating layers. This allows the steel sheeting to float above the ground. In addition, because the steel frame is suspended from the steel sheeting at both ends, it was possible to integrate a spacious terrace into the interior space. The steel sheeting also functions as a thermal screen around the house.
